RDS Portsmouth is Now Part of AMP
In September 2025, AMP acquired the Portsmouth operations of RDS of Virginia, LLC, combining decades of local recycling expertise with AMP’s advanced sortation technology and operational capabilities.
RDS Portsmouth has served South Hampton Roads since 2005 and operates both a municipal solid waste (MSW) processing facility and a single-stream recycling facility. As part of AMP, these operations will support continued innovation and future growth in recycling infrastructure and resource recovery.

RDS has operated waste and recycling facilities for two decades, and the company has been at the forefront of expanding recycling access in Hampton Roads. RDS has been an early and enthusiastic adopter of advanced technologies to increase recovery and landfill diversion, drive down processing costs for local governments, and generate data for continuous improvement.
